Protect Your Rights Through Knowledge and Advocacy

Why don't more of us know about these laws before they are passed?

How can they tell us what we can do on our own property?

What can we do about this now?

Frequently Asked Questions

We are educating Cass County Citizens by conducting public meetings, circulating flyers, organizing citizens in different parts of the county, talking to businesses who will support us due to loss of income, asking members to unify in elections regardless of party affiliation and by establishing this website.

There are many reasons, but the most often cited is that people just don't follow what is being proposed or attend the meetings when issues related to their property are discussed.  Another reason cited is that the notice of what the meetings will specifically discuss, according to some, isn't well publicized.

Cities and County governments are responsible for the overall welfare of the public and pass laws and ordinances that they feel are necessary to manage it.  Unfortunately, sometimes a few citizens act as if they are speaking for all of us.   Sometimes rules that are good for municipalities are passed for urban-fringe and agricultural areas as well when they are not needed.  County commissioners have no way to know this and pass ordinances that become unpopular to property owners.

It is up to the citizens of Cass County to monitor what is going on in our county and if an ordinance is passed that is widely opposed, take the necessary actions that are allowed by law.

As a citizen of Cass County, you can become involved in several ways.  First, you can attend public meetings. You can volunteer in organizations like this one and become one of many voices working to change unnecessary ordinances and zoning requirements.
You can e-mail, write or call your commissioners and let them know how you feel.
You can tell others who will be or are affected by the ordinances thus increasing the numbers of those who are aware of the changes.

How can I get involved?

What are we doing?

Our belief is that property owners have rights and that the continuing regulatory attack on individual rights with respect to property and free enterprise must be stopped.
